The Airborne Identity: This Bike Hangs Out Mid-Air.

Filed under: Overhead Bike Racks and Bike Hoists — Larry @ 6:54 pm

Up, Up, and Away! By far the most popular Bike Racks that I write about on this blog are the Bike Racks that hang the bike over the ground. Hoisted Bike Racks. Bike Racks not unlike the Up and Away Bike Hoist from Stacks and Stacks. People just can’t get enough of them, and who can find a reason to dislike them, really? Not only are they a terrific way of keeping your bike, your expensive investment in these troubled economic times, up and safe from thieves, but they’re great for keeping the garage neat, and orderly, and clean! And you save space by MAXIMIZING your space! But I think I know another reason. They’re just COOL! Ha-ha. I know it sounds silly, but hear me out. I think there is still a little child-like wonder inside of all of us, even in these uncertain economic times, and I think when we see something cool like this, we are reminded of the old days of things like ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds and fun things! Things that we like today, but have to enjoy through our children or our wives may get mad at us for behaving too “infantile” in public. Or something like that. Ha-ha!

This one in particular is a doozy. The Up and Away Bike Hoist is cool for alot of reasons, not just that it is a hanging Bike Rack. It holds up to 50 pounds, and it will lift your bike up to 12 feet! Cool. It is an easy-to-install model. Cooler. And it will hold ANY STYLE bike INCLUDING TANDEMS! That, my friends, is the coolest. You should really think about purchasing this Up and Away Bike Hoist if you don’t already have one. Even in these uncertain economic times, it’s a wise investment to protect your other investment! And don’t worry, folks — there are plenty more hanging bike racks out there — and I’m going to write about them all!

Circles & Triangles: The Crazy Geometry of a Really Cool Bike Rack.

Filed under: Safe And Secure, Wall Mount Bike racks — Larry @ 6:37 pm

Boy, keeping Bicycles out of the way and safe sure is a tough thing to do sometimes. But I love it! Ha-ha. Really, though, when I need to rack a whole bunch of Bicycles together at the same time, in the same place, there really is only two options: rack them on an old fashioned, ground-secured bike rack, or go for it and hang them all from a hanging bike rack not unlike this cool bike rack that I found on Stacks and Stacks the website! It’s called the Bicycle Hanger, and it works wonders when you really need to Rack up to four bikes in a hurry, while keeping your garage all clean and organized — the way it should be!

Certainly tough, certainly durable, and certainly boasting an industrial-ish in it’s look, the Bicycle Hanger may not be as flashy as the cool kind of hanging Bike Rack that has wires and pulleys and makes your bike levitate like Peter Pan. But hey, we didn’t all get Ninendos for Christmas, you know? Sometimes you don’t need all that flash and pizazz, sometimes you just need the essentials, and that’s what the Bicycle Hanger offers. And boy does it offer it! It can hold up to 200 pounds! No kidding! And up to four bikes! Amazing.  And up to 200 pounds, so less bikes, if they weigh more. Or one 200 pound bike.  So if you’re looking for a great way to keep those bikes racked, and don’t want the whole production of a hanging bicycle factory, then the Bicycle hanger is your best bet! Go for it!

Some Kind Of Monster. The Hoist Monster.

Filed under: Overhead Bike Racks and Bike Hoists, The Cutting Edge — Larry @ 6:11 pm

No, don’t be scared. Not a REAL MONSTER! It’s a Hoist Monster! As I’ve hopefully showed everyone, there are just so many wonderful ways to Rack Bikes, from “old school” ways to cutting edge new ways as well also. But totally the coolest way is hanging them up from the ceiling in the air above the ground. Not only is is a conversation starter (”Hey Larry, how did you get that bike in the air?”), it’s also a handy way to keep clutter and un- organization off the floor and keep it out from underfoot by putting it mid-air. Sometimes these devices are called Hoists. And sometimes… they’re called MONSTERS.

I should have saved this post for Halloween, but I just couldn’t wait! Ha-ha! It’s the Hoist Monster from Stacks and Stacks! It doesn’t look like a monster, and it doesn’t look scary, but I guess what it scares away is clutter and un-organization, both of which should be very scarred of it, ha-ha. It’s a real tough device, which gives you piece of mind, and it also features a limited lifetime warranty, which is EVEN BETTER piece of mind.  AND everything’s included for easy ceiling installation.  It’s a great way to rack!  This monster has covered all the bases, no doubt about it.  It’s really the nicest monster I have ever met. And I’ve met some monsters!

Viva La Cali… (wait, Viva where?)

Filed under: Free Standing Bike racks — Tags: , , — Larry @ 2:16 pm

That’s right, Folks! The Tour of California rolls into my favorite town this weekend! What better Valentine’s Day present can you think of than to have Lance and Levi roll through your backyard? To me, it’s hard to imagine anything more fun than watching the pros take on some of the toughest, and arguably the most beautiful, courses in the world!

I will be watching with my kids. We are going to drive close to the finish and then, appropriately, bike into the main event! So, how to get the bikes, the riders and the car safely to the show? A bike rack that mounts to the car, of course!

Here are some tips on different types of car bike racks, how to choose and where to find them:

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Racks – These are great for beginners, since they are easy to use and don’t require much in the way of tools. A system of straps and cradles safely attaches your bike to the car. They usually transport anywhere from one to three bikes.
  • Car Roof Top Bike Carriers – These have been around for ever, so you know that they have improved greatly over the year. If you do a lot of biking (for example, if you ride everyday after work), this is a great option because you can just leave it hooked up to your roof rack, you don’t have to set up a carrier each time you want to ride. They also have a high capacity, holding anywhere from one to five bikes, depending on the size.
  • Hitch Mounted Bike Racks – Great if you are an outdoor enthusiast in general, as having a hitch mounted to your car will come in handy for more things than just biking. Since I have a boat, and therefore, a hitch on my car, I use this Car Bike Rack available at Stacks & Stacks.

I Fold! Because I found a Bike Racks that Folds!

Filed under: Free Standing Bike racks, The Cutting Edge, Wild N Wacky — Tags: — Larry @ 11:49 pm

Sometimes when I’m searching for great new Bike Racks to share, I’ll come across an item that will totally surprise me. Completely surprise! I have been well schooled in the ways of “normal” Bike Racks, or “standard” Bike Racks, if you will. In fact, I could probably teach a master class in the subject, ha-ha! But after looking at, buying, using, and reviewing only the best in Bike Racks for years, I was totally knocked over when I saw this:

Do you know what that is? Can you tell? Your eyes are probably playing tricks on you, but don’t be fooled, that’s a BIKE RACK! And even better, it’s a FOLDING BIKE RACK! I found it over at StacksandStacks.com, and man, it’s stunning! And innovative! It stores two bikes flat against the wall, and when this rack isn’t being used, it totally folds down! It folds flat! So it’s not hard to move around like most big racks, and because it’s small, when you fold it down, it takes up NO ROOM except a small amount of space on your wall! It also has a neat shelf to store shoes or helmets. The Folding Bike Rack is made from tough epoxy coated solid steel, and it has PVC cushioned sleeves to protect the bike’s finish AND comes with a lifetime warranty. Amazing! You should check it out. I’ve ordered 3, and I’m going to surprise my family. I’m sure my wife will figure out what it is quickly, but my two daughters, not so fast! It folds!

On the Bike Track, Enemies. On the Bike Rack, Best Friends.

Bike races are tough business for real tough competitors, and they sure put those bikes through some real rough punishment. Have you ever been to one? Sometimes the sight of wrecked bikes is amazing. Someone called it “carnage”. But it always seems to come down to two riders, two riders at the top of their form, and they’re racing next to next. And while they respect each other’s talent, they usually hate each other. And these rider slam their bikes into each other at furious speeds, each trying to knock the other out of the race. It’s crazy. The bikes are just SMASHING into each other! Finally (FINALLY!) the battle comes to an end. We’re all out of breath, and a winner is awarded. Whew. Exciting!

You would never believe me if I told you, but it’s true, so I will — those very same bikes, bikes that lived to destroy each other, will sometimes find themselves mounted and secured on the SAME BIKE RACK! I’ve seen it happen. The world of Bike Racks is pretty mellow as a rule, but when you see these fierce competitors hanging around together, when you see that everything worked out okay in the end, it kind of gives you comfort. And that, speak of the devil, is the name of this really neat bike rack called The 2 Bike Road Comfort Stand from Stacks and Stacks! It’s a well-built bike rack and features a tough innovative narrow nesting feature, so the bikes can come together close and leave plenty of space around the rack. It holds almost any type of bike you can throw at it, and it’s patented, so you know it’s something special. If two intense rivals can end up calm and collected on the same bike rack, a rack called Comfort, who knows what else could happen in this crazy word?

Victory! How Bikes and Bike Racks helped Save the World.

Back in WWII, the Greatest Generation was in charge of saving the world from the Evil Axis, and they did so bravely. They stamped them out in Europe and the Pacific and they did it with tanks and planes and guns. But not so well known is the fact that they used bikes quite a bit in their struggle against the dark forces. They used them instead of cars and other transports as a wise and efficient way to travel around. Think about it: what better way to sneak around, without using gasoline or making sound, than a bicycle? It seems to me that bicycles were the first stealth planes, really. And as long as the rider had their wits about them and all of their limbs functioning, there was no reason the bicycle couldn’t be a formidable front line must-have. A must-have THESE days is a bike rack, if you have a bicycle. Our boys had to use what they could to keep their bikes safe and secure, but thanks to their sacrifice and service, we live in a world where you can order the finest bike racks available at the click of a mouse! Like this Bike-Away Hoist from StacksandStacks.com, for instance:

A really cool way to store your bikes, the Bike-Away Hoist is great for actually LIFTING your bikes up into the air, against the wall. That keeps them up high where they’re safe and sound and out of the way! The Bike-Away Hoist will tackle up to 80 lbs. worth of your bicycles (and that usually means two). It will lift them to an overhead position with almost no effort. Obviously any thief or criminal that had broken into your garage will have to think twice about stealing your bikes, because it will be not only a hassle to pull them down, but it would cause noise and racket that would alert you to their crimes. The Bike-Away Hoist really is a simple, safe, and convenient way to store bicycles (and get them down) without the use of dangerous step ladders. And the Bike-Away Hoist rack is zinc plated steel, vinyl-coated and permanently lubricated. Tough, determined, safe, and secure. Kind of like our armed forces, and the heroes of WWII — the men and women who used bicycles to help fight fanatical evil and stop it cold, dead, and in its tracks.

You don’t need Tension in your Life. Well, maybe THIS Tension.

Filed under: Tension Mount Bike racks — Tags: , — Larry @ 10:06 pm

Everyone is telling me that the world is getting kinda tense these days, and that maybe money stuff is kinda crazy in America. I hadn’t really noticed, because I like to keep my mind positive and upbeat, but I have some good advice for everyone if they’re feeling tense: go out and ride a bike. It sounds crazy, but it really helps with stress and tension and bad thoughts. Simply put, you just outrun your trouble! The faster you pedal, the less you have any bad feelings! I bike ride at least four times a day, and I tell you, I’ve never been happier! The one tension I allow in my life, the ONLY tension, is a tension I recommend to you:

The Bike Tension Storage Rack from StacksandStacks.com is a dream come true, and a great way to store your bikes! I enjoy Stack’s entire selection of Bike Racks, but this model is a real treat. It works in the same principle as those neat bathroom shower tension rods, except it holds bikes! It adjusts between 7′6″ to 9′6″, so you’re covered, wherever you need it. The Bike Tension Storage Rack’s easy-adjust arms will hold up to 4 bikes. But trust me, 4 bikes is a job for the Tension rack. If YOU feel tension, all you need is one bike. Take a deep breath, and bicycle your way to happiness. Its power source is you. Which is good, because my friends tell me that soon gasoline and electricity may be tough to come by.

Stack ‘Em, Pack Em’ and Rack ‘Em! This Bike Rack holds Four!

Filed under: Free Standing Bike racks, The Cutting Edge — Tags: , — Larry @ 9:47 pm

Holy cow, that is a lot of bikes. And that is not a Pictureshop fake picture, that’s really real. It was put together in downtown Denver by and artist called Wembly. Man, look at all of those bikes. I have alot of bikes, but not THAT MANY. Ha-ha. If you have a lot of bikes, or live with a bunch of people who all have 1 bike, and you have limited space to store those bikes, then I have a great bike rack for you! Check out this high quality, built-to-last bicycle storage rack called the Freestanding 4-Bike Rack from the folks over at Stacks and Stacks.

Need a bike rack that can accommodate many styles of bikes? This is the one for you. It’s a really sweet free standing bike rack! Great for the garage, this bike rack is perfect for families and people who collect multiple bikes (yes, that means me). It is super easy to put together, and super easy to use as well. Tough and strong and great looking, too! So really, I can’t think of a better way to store multiple bikes of different styles all in the same place, all at the same time. It makes organizing you garage a whole lot easier to, because all of your bikes can be stacked up. Now, it may not hold as many bikes as Wembly’s rack, but really, if you had that many bikes, isn’t that TOO MANY bikes?
