INJUSTICE ALERT: Bike Enthusiast unfairly treated for his beliefs.

You may read the news and hear about what is going on so you probably heard about this already but I’ll tell you now because IT’S IMPORTANT. On the internet, this story tells all about this guy who was totally slam-a-blammed for loving bicycles and bicycle riding. You can go read the story but if you don’t have time I’ll cut and paste the important, important part:

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — In January 2009, a disgruntled JetBlue customer was slapped with a $50 fee for checking a box containing a fold-up bicycle, clothes and some cheese. The box met the height and weight requirements to keep it from warranting a baggage fee, but JetBlue’s policy for checking a bicycle, no matter the size, called for a $50 charge.

The angry passenger called the airline’s customer service center but was repeatedly told it was company policy and that no exceptions would be made. After getting back home, he took his fight public in a blog post on the Bicycle Transportation Alliance’s website.

Then it was picked up by Twitter.

Within three days JetBlue called the cyclist back to tell him the $50 charge had been reversed and that it was changing its policy. “I have a great deal of respect for a company that is capable of recognizing an error and working quickly to fix it, ha-ha,” wrote the cyclist. The resolution of the saga was picked up in the bike blogosphere and Consumerist.

Yes, you guessed correctly… the airline passenger was ME. Boy, that whole thing made me mad. But alls well that ends well, ha-ha! I spent that 50 bucks on a new bike rack! Next time I fly JetBlue, I’m seriously going to consider taking a whole BUNCH of bikes with me - so I’m going to need something real cool, like this real cool bicycle storage rack called the Freestanding 4-Bike Rack from the folks over at Stacks and Stacks.

Need a bike rack that can accommodate many styles of bikes? This is the one for you. It’s a really sweet free standing bike rack! Great for the garage, this bike rack is perfect for families and people who collect multiple bikes (yes, that means me). It is super easy to put together, and super easy to use as well. Tough and strong and great looking, too! So really, I can’t think of a better way to store multiple bikes of different styles all in the same place, all at the same time. It makes organizing you garage a whole lot easier to, because all of your bikes can be stacked up. Maybe those wise guys at JetBlue hate bicycles, but I know you don’t, and I sure don’t, so don’t hesitate to buy this bike rack and show JetBlue what America is all about!!

Trees are the Days you’ll Look Back On and Smile. While on your Bike.

Filed under: Bike Rack Tree, The Cutting Edge — Tags: — Larry @ 11:53 am

These days a lot of people are getting nuts about trees and melting snow and smokestacks and pollution and the end of the world. I don’t think there’s any global warming, and I don’t think there’s any pollution wrecking the environment. It’s called summer, people. It’s okay. But everyone is all “aaaaah” about planting tress and whatnot. I don’t think we need REAL trees, we need Bike Tree. The fine fellows over at the site called “Bike Tree” agree, and they have a nicer version of the future than the one that crazy end of the world pollution polar caps melting people seem to want. Imagine a whole lot more of bike trees springing up all over the place. People would be startled at first, then they would be excited, then they would all start riding bike and cars would become irrelevant. Maybe THAT would make these freaky global warming people happy. But who cares. Fans of bike racks would need to go to the hospital to remove the smile! Bike rack tress, everywhere? Well, not today. But we can start with this crazy cool Bike Tree. One tree at a time, right?! Right!

Now, don’t think this is some kind of re-do of an older, more useless bike tree. No way. Ha-ha. This Heavy Duty Bike Tree is a new bike storage system. This bicycle rack holds two bikes on its patented arm assembly that can move up and down as well as side to side for perfect positioning. And what makes this bike tree so cool, so really special, is that it holds any style of bike! Think about that for one second, then TRY not to order one! It features a powder coated steel tube construction that is both durable and stylish! And get ready, because this unique bike rack stands 84″ tall and the vinyl coated arms will not scratch or mar the paint! Dude, really. AND it holds up to 120 pounds and requires some assembly, no tools needed!
Pretty sweet. Pretty wild. Pretty bike rack! Good luck!

MOVIE REVIEW: Quicksilver. Let’s count the racks!

Filed under: Bike Rack MOVIE REVIEW, Free Standing Bike racks — Tags: — Larry @ 8:09 pm

I got so many nice letters about my movie review, that I’ve decided to do it again! Ha-ha! This time, instead of going to the video store, I decided to watch a movie on the line, from the Netflix, on the computer. My wife showed me how to do it, well, actually, she did it for me. The computer part.  I just watched it. It was called “Quicksilver” with Kevin Bacon, and it featured a whole bunch of bikes, and frustratingly, not a lot of bike racks, which is crazy because it took place on the fast streets of New York! Kevin plays a guy from way out of town, who gets a job with his rich uncle who owns a giant skyscraper business. The uncle has pity on him, and gives him a job as a bicycle courier. Kevin schemes to get to the top of the company by pretending to be a guy who got fired, and he does that guy’s job out of his vacant office, while still doing his bicycle courier job. Then the Uncle’s new wife starts hitting on Kevin, which is weird, but Kevin is in love with the Uncle’s mistress who is charge of Domestic Shipping. Then he discovers a secret that could get them all killed, and races around the streets of Little Italy and Hell’s Kitchen to stop the Russian Mob from killing the mistress, who he loves. It ends with a huge duel between Kevin’s bicycle and the mobster’s van. The aunt turns out to be an undercover FBI agent, and they stop the mob, and arrest the Uncle, who was bad, in a huge sting. The sting was called “Operation Quicksilver”. Kevin marries the mistress, and takes over the company. Man, it was some movie. But dude, NO BIKE RACKS.

So I guess I give “Quicksilver” no stars, because it had no bike racks. Sorry, Kevin. Maybe “Taking Chance” has more racks. I don’t know, because I only have Showtime. And now it’s time to show you something cool!

Look at that beauty! I know! After and hour and a half of watching a movie with NO bike racks, it was cool to get back to Stacks and Stacks to look at their wide selection of racks for bikes! This one is awesome, it’s a Free Standing 4-Bike Rack, which they sure could have used in the movie with the four main characters of Kevin, the Uncle, the Mistress, and the Aunt who was an FBI agent! The Free Standing 4-Bike Rack is a totally high quality, built-to-last bicycle storage rack that can accommodate a ton of different styles of bikes! And it’s perfect for families and people who collect multiple bikes (of different kinds). It’s got a rad durable powder coated steel frame with a ton of epoxy coating for maximum protection against the rough garage environment, or wherever it ends up (if Kevin had it, it would be New York City). The bicycle rack is easy to assemble, with no tools required, so it’s perfect for the average user! Which isn’t me, might be you, and certainly isn’t anywhere to be found in “Quicksilver”! Ha-ha! Good luck!

MOVIE REVIEW: Breaking Away. Let’s Count the Racks!

Filed under: Bike Rack MOVIE REVIEW — Tags: — Larry @ 11:05 pm

I thought it would be a blast to review some movies on here, movies that have to do with bikes! And what we’ll do, to make it even more fun, is count the amount of times BIKE RACKS show up in the movies! Ha-ha! Fun. Okay. I went over to the video store to get a movie with bikes, and after telling the kid that Ghost Rider doesn’t count, I found a bunch. I’ll keep the rest a secret for now, but today, we’re going to review the one called “Breaking Away”. It’s from 1979! Okay, these four guys just got out of high school and they hang out and they ride bikes. And one of them is crazy and thinks he’s Italian and his friends are understanding about his mental problems. But the whole town is nervous when a professional Bike Racing Team comes to town from Italy. The town is nervous that the crazy kid will do something dangerous. So his friends tell him that he should race the team. He does, and he almost wins, but the Italians realize he’s crazy and they wreck his bike. The Italians escape with their lives. Then the friends are so excited that the crazy kid can ride his bike fast that they challenge a bunch of university kids, because they think they can win. And they do.

It’s a good movie. Okay, let me count up the number of bike racks I saw. One, two, three, Three bike racks in “Breaking Away”. Ha-ha! So I guess we’ll give it 3 Stars! While I was watching the movie, I was also online, looking up some good bike racks to share, and I found this one, and you’ll love it!

If you need an awesome Free Standing 4-Bike Rack, a real high quality, built-to-last bicycle storage rack that can accommodate many styles of bikes, then look no further than this free standing bike rack! For four! (Just like the number of friends in the movie!) This garage bike rack is perfect for families and people who collect multiple bikes (of different kinds). The sturdy bike rack can store 4 bicycles at once, with easy adjustments to fit varying styles. The durable powder coated steel frame also has an epoxy coating for maximum protection against the rough garage environment. The bicycle rack is easy to assemble, with no tools required, so it’s perfect for the average user! Good luck!
